Two years ago I had a range of health problems making it hard to just get through the day. My business is all about helping clients express their originality in words and photographs, to move them towards reaching their potential. But I wasn’t doing the same for myself.
Then I met Jacquie Dale. I had somehow been looking for her for years. It was time to get on with my life full on! My business coach had shown me that underlying everything is your physical wellbeing. If you don’t take care of yourself, you lack the energy and clarity of focus to move forward. When I took up a friend’s recommendation to consult Jacquie Dale at Real Nutrition, everything started to turn around. Every fortnight for six months, I was encouraged and supported, given information and programmes that work for me within the limitations of my painful joints and the medications I need to take. As an experienced personal trainer, Jacquie even explains to me how to get the most out of my time at the gym.
I am now beginning my second six months under her care, and feel a very different person from this time last year. My entire wellbeing – in my business, my creativity and my personal life – begins with my body. Good, balanced nutrition is a critical part of the jigsaw. Getting it right takes time and requires tweaking as elements of your life change.
With Jacquie’s help, it was easy to lose 6% of body fat in the first few months. The slow and careful way really works, because you are all the time quietly changing a lifetime of habits. And it doesn’t seem as long as you might think. Now, when I eat something I have avoided for a while, my body rebels and I feel unwell, which makes the entire process self-regulating. I now understand that it is not about losing weight on the scales, it is about replacing fat with muscle, using exercise alongside a sensible eating regime.
Physical wellbeing underlies everything – energy, happiness, focus, ability to work, play and love. I haven’t finished yet – because I know it is a lifelong commitment. Somehow, that excites me rather than scares me, because I have already learned in six months that slow and steady instils new positive habits and they become second nature.
I have just had a workshop to review my business strategy and marketing plan, and because of my newfound fitness and health, I know I am going to have a great year! Jacquie is my dream come true. She understands about the issues of being in my fifties, of the medications I need, the difficulties I have at the gym with my painful joints.
