FMS (fibromyalgia syndrome) is a widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which the cause is still unknown. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments, and tendons – the soft fibrous tissues in the body.
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last November 2003 and spent the next few months searching the internet and bookshelves to learn all I could about the condition. Luckily there is a lot of information available about fibromyalgia and it became clear that each person has different levels of pain and a wide variety of symptoms so I required an individual plan to manage my condition to cope with everyday life.
I went to Sue in May 2004 looking for someone to help me create a personal management plan for fibromyalgia that would suit my lifestyle and needs. Sue changed the food that I ate, suggested vitamins and minerals that could help and encouraged me to exercise by finding a program that I could manage as my muscles were very weak and painful and I also have arthritis in my knees.
Along with diet and exercise it was also important to find suitable methods of managing stress levels, and ensuring I get enough deep level sleep.
Together we have found the perfect plan of attack to reduce the symptoms and increase the quality of life. I now have days where I don't feel any pain at all, have great energy levels and enjoy the things I used to do. I really appreciate having someone who can advise and support me in my efforts to achieve personal goals.
Fibromyalgia does not have a cure but it can be managed with the right approach and support.
Thank you Sue
