Attending a Real Nutrition seminar for members at the YMCA earlier this year changed my thinking toward this aspect of fitness and general wellbeing. I was already a gym member with the YMCA prior to attending the seminar with a well set regular gym routine and eating habits that had been improved by my joining the gym in the first instance. However, still wanting to improve my fitness, overall stamina, and weight control even further I decided to take up the Real Nutrition introductory offer, which was well worth my while. Working in an industry that is a little non-conformist with irregular work hours and ups and downs, my biggest challenge was with the changes to my eating habits, which required me to eat more often and to vary a lot of the food categories that I had been used to. Sadly, this also meant passing up the goodies I was used to snacking on at all hours of the night. However, it all proved very worthwhile after a relatively short space of time.

At my first recheck after two weeks on the new regime I’m pleased to say the changes in me had been vast. Weight loss, fat loss, and muscle gain had been quite significant. Getting into a new routine had also been much easier than I’d imagined. Even after a six week overseas trip, fitting back into the new routine had not been difficult. I continue to monitor my progress and improvements with regular visits and updates and I now look back with satisfaction at the improvements I have achieved both at a professional and personal level. The regime isn’t ruling my life as some may think and the only major changes to my food purchasing habits have been in the variety of foods that I now buy and to look at the labels, which I wouldn’t have done before.

I've tried many diet plans in the past and failed. Since seeing Rachel at Real Nutrition I've lost 20 kilos of fat and I look and feel amazing. I have much more energy and even exercise regularly. I have been a client of Jacquie’s for just over a year now. Originally I went to see her to lose weight for my upcoming wedding. I wanted to lose 30 kilos; this was the weight I had put on while I was pregnant. I achieved this goal without any trouble! Not only was Jacquie incredibly supportive but she taught me about nutrition and about the way the body reacts to food or starvation. I still see Jacquie now as my goals have changed I want to get fit and compete in novice triathlons. When I first met my motivator, encourager, mentor Jacquie Dale I was a normal 45 year old woman in the street, nothing special.  I went to gym 3 times a week and enjoyed easy sea kayaking.  All this exercise did not stop my body from continuously growing!

Jacquie started educating me how through eating, (I had to eat more!) the body growth will stop!

My entire life has changed: physically, I have amazing energy and enthusiasm for life, the greatest gain has been the increase in confidence and courage, enough courage to make a career change - to Nutrition.  This required studying, then passing exams which I would never have attempted!

In my 50th year I am the current New Zealand NZFBB Physique Over 45yr and North Island Champion.

With the new extra courage and confidence I recently overcame my fear of heights by achieving Rock Climbing (see a nana of 5 beautiful grandchildren can do anything!)

The last time I saw my doctor, I was diagnosed as being “borderline diabetic.” I was overweight and my self esteem was very low due to a bitter marriage break up. My father suffers from diabetes and my mother died of asthma both parents being Maori means they belong to the group that suffers the worst statistics in relation to these diseases, even on an international scale.

My health and relationship problems were a catalyst in accepting the EAS Body for Life Challange. I enlisted the advice of a nutritionist, Jacquie. It was great to receive regular, sound advice, and better still, seeing the documented results on a regular basis motivated me to continue to the end.

I had plenty of excuses not to achieve my goals, and not see the challenge through. I turned my excuses into reasons. Some weeks I had to exercise in the garage as I had no babysitter.

I had to take care of my children during the school holidays, so I turned all their play events into exercise. We would go to the park, I’d do chin ups on the swings, the girls and I would do hanging leg raises on the monkey bars.

When there’s a will, there’s always a way.

I regularly used the Myoplex shakes, and the thermo-dynamix assisted my body fat loss. The carbsense bars tasted great, and convenient for high protein, low carb snacks.

Because of the tremendous change in my appearance, I am regularly stopped and questioned at the gym as to how I achieved my results. An added bonus is my own feelings. My low feelings have been replaced by positive emotions. Others have commented on my new, more outgoing personality. I have been back to my GP, and he was genuinely amazed at my physical condition. I am in top shape, I am focused, happy, and excited about my future. I have met a wonderful new partner. I am going to focus on becoming a greater role model for Maori.

As I am all ready a company director, a business mentor, and a Maori martial expert, I can carry programs with integrity. I can walk the talk, and inspire others to do the same.

I intend to inspire my eldest daughter, and be a positive role model for her and Maori youth in general.
